City Council Approves Controversial Gas Station Development

In a recent government meeting, the Manor City Council discussed an ordinance to rezone approximately 2.68 acres of land located at 5879, 5865, and 5855 Heiseley Road from M1 Light Manufacturing District to B2 General Business District. This change, which affects three separate parcels, is aimed at facilitating the development of a Sheetz gas station and convenience store.

Council member Kenton Flipiack highlighted that the proposed project would include a gas station with a drive-through facility and an outdoor patio. However, these specific uses will require additional conditional use permits from the municipal planning commission after the rezoning is approved.

A market report presented during the meeting indicated that the rezoning would provide essential services to support the surrounding businesses and residents, suggesting a positive impact on the local economy. The council declared an emergency regarding the ordinance, which will be submitted to the electorate for approval.
