At the Jan. 13 Glynn County Schools board meeting, parents reported safety concerns and alleged favoritism and absenteeism by the Brunswick High girls head track coach; the board voted to go into executive session on personnel and the superintendent said staff would follow up.
The Glynn County Schools board unanimously approved the consent agenda on Jan. 13, including November 2025 financial reports and the selection of a construction manager for Goodyear Elementary renovations; motions were moved and seconded by board members during the open meeting.
At the Jan. 13 board meeting the board recognized Landon La Roach, a junior and dual-enrolled student, for musical awards and academic achievement; La Roach is set to perform at state and national events.
At its organizational meeting the Glynn County School Board elected Mark (Mike) Hulsey as chair and Jeff Dodgen as vice chair, received financial and facilities updates, and unanimously approved a recommendation to engage Pope Construction as construction manager for the Goodyear Elementary renovation; several motions, including a workers' compensation settlement and a personnel hire, passed 7–0.
On Sept. 16 the Glynn County Board of Education approved the meeting agenda (reported tally 6–0–1), unanimously approved a consent package covering personnel, field trips, facilities and finance items (7–0), and adjourned the meeting.
At its Sept. 16 meeting, the Glynn County Board of Education recognized seven schools for reading and math growth in 2024–25 and celebrated four students acknowledged by the National Merit program, including several who said they had been accepted to Georgia Tech.
Board members heard that Glynn County is in year four of a five-year strategic plan, staff have streamlined the plan and the board will begin spring engagement to develop the next plan and align it with next year’s budget.
A district presentation showed Glynn County’s high school content mastery score at 91.4 for SY25 and widespread performance above state averages; the report flagged attendance (15.9% of students absent 10%+ of days) as a concern and noted targeted instructional responses.
District staff reported site development near completion for the Glendale replacement, a performing arts center interior nearing finish but completion pushed to March, and steady progress on the BHS field house and BOE Wing 4.
Two procedural motions were passed by voice vote: a motion to enter executive session for land, legal and personnel matters and a motion to adjourn; both carried 6-0 according to the transcript.
