The Glynn County Board of Education voted unanimously Feb. 10 to approve school resource officer training and to accept the December 2025 financial report as part of the consent agenda.
At the Feb. 10 meeting a parent alleged district staff canceled a pole‑vault equipment purchase after complaints, left parents without practice mats, and that he paid $1,000 out of pocket and has not been reimbursed; he said administrators gave inconsistent reasons and parents were denied a copy of contracts.
Board recognized student winners and alternates in the Glynn County spelling bee, the FFA's community and fundraising work, and two bus drivers honored for training and service.
District staff asked the Glynn County Board of Education to approve several capital and maintenance projects: a $359,095 GMP for board‑office renovations, a $165,985 gym floor replacement for Glenn Middle School due to termite damage, surplus vehicle disposition, and a $2,425,000 roof contract for Sterling Elementary.
The Glynn County SkillsUSA chapter was recognized by the state as a chapter of excellence. Students raised more than $6,000 to support competition travel; 31 students will compete at the state championships in Atlanta and 14 advanced from regionals.
District staff proposed buying Tyler Technologies routing software for $371,706 with a phased rollout and RFID student scanning pilot, asked to buy virtual‑reality training software for SROs ($151,874.17) and 25 mobile AEDs ($72,500) funded by a school safety grant.
Under Senate Bill 123, Glynn County Schools is focusing on chronic absenteeism (missing 10%+ of days). District rate was 15.53% as of Jan. 26; staff outlined daily monitoring, attendance review teams, pre‑K interventions and a compliance deadline of 06/01/2026.
At the Jan. 13 Glynn County Schools board meeting, parents reported safety concerns and alleged favoritism and absenteeism by the Brunswick High girls head track coach; the board voted to go into executive session on personnel and the superintendent said staff would follow up.
The Glynn County Schools board unanimously approved the consent agenda on Jan. 13, including November 2025 financial reports and the selection of a construction manager for Goodyear Elementary renovations; motions were moved and seconded by board members during the open meeting.
At the Jan. 13 board meeting the board recognized Landon La Roach, a junior and dual-enrolled student, for musical awards and academic achievement; La Roach is set to perform at state and national events.
