After extensive public comment and committee review, the Crowley ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved naming Elementary School No. 17 for the Baylor family, citing the family's role in school integration and community service.
At its Feb. 26 meeting the Crowley ISD Board unanimously approved Mary Harris Elementary's targeted improvement plan, certified unopposed trustee candidates, adopted the 2025–26 calendar (Option B), and awarded multiple RFPs — including $421,713.06 for kitchen equipment and $481,100 for Styrofoam recycling — and approved districtwide interactive display boards.
The Crowley ISD board unanimously approved revised 2024–25 operating guidelines, resolutions to enter joint election agreements with Tarrant County and the City of Crowley for May 3, 2025, and the 2024–25 district improvement plan.
District staff previewed the Black History Quiz Bowl (49 teams) and described CISD's legislative priorities; staff noted the Texas Senate passed a school-choice emergency item 19'12 and CISD plans advocacy at the Capitol on Feb. 18.
District staff told the Crowley ISD board that the Texas School Safety Center conducted an intruder-detection audit, the district has a corrective action plan and the state allows 45 days for corrective action; staff said sensitive details would not be released in open session.
District staff told the board the targeted improvement plan for Mary Harris Elementary and a district improvement plan will come to a future meeting; a public hearing on the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) for 2023–24 is scheduled for Feb. 27, and RFPs for kitchen equipment and Styrofoam recycling units are forthcoming.
Crowley ISD trustees unanimously approved an order calling a May 3, 2025 election for trustee places 5, 6 and 7 and approved the consent agenda. The election order was presented by district staff and recommended for approval by Vice President Gary Gracia.
The Crowley ISD Board of Trustees voted to find that three employees who resigned after the statutory deadline did not have good cause and authorized the superintendent to file complaints with the State Board for Educator Certification. The actions were approved by motions that the board said were based on the superintendent's recommendations.
The Crowley ISD Board of Trustees appointed Michael Laszick to fill the Place 3 vacancy until the next board election in May 2026. The board administered the oath of office during the same meeting.
