At a special July meeting the Smithtown Board of Education unanimously approved a directed medical examination for an identified staff member and appointed George Gagliardi as interim principal at Smithtown Elementary.

Smithtown High School East held its 2025 commencement, where Principal Robert Rose formally conferred diplomas on the Class of 2025, speakers remembered a deceased classmate, and district leaders and retiring administrators were recognized.
