Daniel officials open General Plan update to public input

Mayor Scott Kohler opened the town-hall meeting at 6:01 p.m., saying the purpose was to accept public comments on the Town’s General Plan, town code and land use. Planning Commission Chair Gary Weight told attendees that the Town is updating the General Plan and "encouraged those in attendance to think of changes, etc. that would make the Town a better place to live."

Town Planner Eric Bunker said the General Plan "will ultimately be the guide for Town officials when making decisions and accepting applications for the Town," framing the document as the primary policy guide for future zoning and land-use choices. Several residents asked how and when they could review draft code changes; Planner Bunker and Clerk/Recorder Megan Goodrich directed people to the Town Website and the Public Notice Website for materials and recordings.

The meeting served primarily as a listening session: officials summarized the update process, staff described where materials are posted, and residents offered site-specific preferences and concerns that officials said would be considered in the drafting process. No formal votes or policy changes were taken at the session; Mayor Kohler adjourned the meeting at 7:16 p.m.
