Trustees press staff to convert strategic plan into tracking and action

Trustees told staff they want the township's strategic plan to be a working document rather than a shelf file. Trustee Katke said the plan has been costly to produce but largely unused and asked staff to provide a concise implementation checklist the board could review at meetings so members can track milestones and accountability.

Superintendent Karen Hildebrandt and department leads said many implementation tasks are already underway (fire assessment completed, RFPs for grounds and auditors drafted, work on economic development initiatives and MERS plan changes in progress), but acknowledged the board could see those items more explicitly labeled as strategic-plan deliverables. "Implementation isn't about the document you produce. It's about the culture of accountability you build around it," a trustee said.
