Board sets 60‑day window to reissue RFP for Trumbo affordable housing

The Monroe County School Board agreed to reissue the request for proposals (RFP) for the Trumbo affordable housing project with a 60‑day response period to give bidders sufficient time to prepare design documents and proposals. Superintendent Axford and staff said the RFP would be posted “tomorrow” and that the due date would be adjusted to reflect the longer window.

Hunter O'Connor, who the board thanked for preparing the RFP, told the board the document had previously been posted for about two months and that, "given the scope of this project, I would say, you know, probably 45 days at the minimum" but that staff could extend the timeline. Board members settled on 60 days for the reissue and asked O'Connor to confirm RFP language would allow proposers to propose alternate approaches, including combined phase submissions.

The board also noted the RFP timeline contemplates an abrogation lot availability in 2026 and that staff would confirm exact dates once the posting period was set. No formal vote on the RFP issuance was recorded in the transcript; the board directed staff to post the RFP and return with any necessary contract details.

The discussion included clarifications from staff about the RFP release and due dates: staff said the current timeline showed a release date of Feb. 12 and a due date of April 2, which would be adjusted to meet the 60‑day target.
