Superintendent previews district priorities and reports Evergreen Elementary on time and on budget

An incoming superintendent (role identified in the meeting) framed the school year around a "rowing together" leadership theme — direction, alignment and commitment — and outlined five commitments for the district: student well‑being; literacy by grade 3; algebraic reasoning by grade 9; on‑track graduation; and graduates leaving with a plan and pathway.

The superintendent discussed funding pressures and demographic shifts the state projects — a predicted decrease of 30,000 public‑education students statewide and an anticipated increase of 15,000 students requiring special education in the next five years — and said the district is addressing students falling behind through professional learning and curriculum changes. He reported that Evergreen Elementary is on time and on budget after the district signed a final contract guaranteeing a set amount for delivery.
