Board Receives Update on Middle School Restroom Repairs Amid Community Safety Concerns

The board received an update on Middle School bathroom repairs from Operations & Transportation Director Rob Gleeson, who said two purchase orders were approved to replace hardware affecting 20 restroom stalls. Five restrooms have been sectioned off while work proceeds, and the district will retain removed hardware as spare parts. "A total of 20 restroom stalls were affected, and 5 restrooms have been sectioned off to prevent use," Gleeson said; he added that once replacements are completed facilities will be restored to full capacity.

Multiple public commenters urged faster repairs and raised student‑safety concerns. Community member Illene Schueller told the board she was concerned about student safety tied to bathroom conditions, and Phillip Foust said he would continue to address the board through public comment rather than private meetings. The board noted the concerns and affirmed maintenance actions are underway but did not provide a revised timeline for full restoration of all stall doors.
