Board designates three Warminster properties as blighted, approves redevelopment resolutions

The Warminster Township Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to declare three properties blighted and adopt redevelopment-area resolutions, the board chair said during the July meeting. The resolutions cover 1229 Woodbrook Lane, Beverly Road and Slate Road and cite each parcel as a redevelopment area under the Urban Redevelopment Law.

Supervisor Tom, who presented the item, said the parcels were reviewed by the township blight committee and the planning commission and described the properties as vacant and poorly maintained. "They are vacant. They're falling apart," Tom said, urging the board to approve the resolutions to give property owners opportunity to fix conditions before the township pursues additional steps with the redevelopment authority or in district court. The chair called the question and the motion carried 5–0.

The resolutions give the township formal authority to notify owners and, if necessary, move the process forward toward remediation or redevelopment. Tom said the board is initially offering owners a chance to address the problems and will return later this year or early next year if improvements are not made. No immediate takeover or redevelopment action was requested at the meeting.
