ADCOM consultant gathers New London resident input in dispatch study

Sher Bush, the ADCOM consultant assigned to New London’s dispatch study, opened a public input session focused on the town’s dispatching function and said she is collecting feedback and data to inform recommendations.

Moderator introduced the session as a listening opportunity specifically about dispatch operations—not about New London police, fire or ambulance—and asked residents to state their names when speaking. ‘‘This is an opportunity for residents to come up and share with her any information, feedback, but it is specific to the dispatching department,’’ the moderator said.

Bush explained ADCOM has deployed a short survey and an RFI-style document to collect demographic and technology inventory information from the town and has begun interviews and listening sessions with dispatch staff and local executive leadership. She said the project is phased: an initial internal assessment of New London and the towns it serves, then a deeper, site-specific comparison with outside centers if the town requests it.

The session ended with organizers saying there will be further stakeholder interviews, a focus group for dispatch staff, and a public review session once the consultant’s draft report is complete.
