In a significant display of civic engagement, the Rancho Mirage City Council celebrated a remarkable voter turnout of 88.52% during the recent municipal election held on November 5, 2024. City Clerk Christie Ramos presented the certified election results, revealing that Michael O'Keefe and Ted Wyle emerged victorious, securing four-year terms on the council.

Out of 13,480 registered voters, 11,932 cast their ballots, with O'Keefe receiving 4,992 votes and Wyle garnering 4,698 votes. The election saw a competitive field of five candidates, with O'Keefe achieving the highest vote total in the city's history for a council seat, surpassing the third-place finisher by a staggering 70%.

Council members expressed their gratitude for the high voter participation, with Mayor Pro Tem highlighting that nearly every precinct in Rancho Mirage reported turnouts between 85% and 93%. This enthusiasm for civic duty was commended as a testament to the community's commitment to local governance.

Following the announcement of the results, the council adopted a resolution certifying the election, paving the way for O'Keefe and Wyle to take their oaths of office.
