In a recent meeting of the Balson Spa Village Board, officials discussed plans for an upcoming public zoning workshop aimed at engaging residents in local development discussions. The workshop will feature an open house format where attendees can review various rezoning topics prepared by a consulting firm and provide feedback to the Zoning Advisory Committee.
The workshop is set to take place on October 15, 2023, from 7 PM to 9 PM, and will cover significant issues such as accessory dwelling units and future development in the downtown business district. Committee members will be present to facilitate discussions and gather public input.
However, the meeting's scheduling has faced challenges, with the consultant, Chris, not attending meetings regularly since April. This has led to a scramble for effective communication about the workshop, prompting board members to urge the community to spread the word.
In an effort to accommodate the public and ensure adequate participation, the board also discussed rescheduling their regular meeting to October 7, 2024, at 7 PM, while considering an earlier start time for the October 15 meeting. The board emphasized the importance of community involvement in zoning discussions and encouraged residents to attend the Zoning Advisory Committee meetings held on the first and third Thursdays of each month.
As the board moves forward, they are committed to enhancing public engagement and ensuring that residents have a voice in shaping the future of Balson Spa.
