Deborah Hitchcock, a beloved member of the Maple Crest community, tragically passed away in a car accident on July 20, 2024, while en route to celebrate her birthday with family. She was 75 years old and had been married to Dennis Hitchcock for 55 years. Deborah was a devoted mother to seven children—William, Stephanie, Kelly, Jeffrey, Allen, Kristen, and Thomas—and a cherished grandmother to her grandchildren.
Born in Johnstown, New York, Deborah was raised in a close-knit family and attended Roberts Wesleyan University, where she formed a lifelong friendship with Judy Cook. This connection brought her to Maple Crest, where she met Dennis and began their enduring romance. Throughout her life, Deborah balanced her role as a loving homemaker with managing the administrative tasks of the family business, demonstrating her commitment to both family and community.
Deborah was deeply involved in her Christian faith, dedicating her life to uplifting others through art, baked goods, and prayer. Her legacy is marked by her compassion and her desire to reflect the love of Jesus in all her interactions.
In a heartbreaking turn of events, Deborah's son, William \"Bill\" Hitchcock, age 51, and daughter, Stephanie Lynn Hitchcock, age 52, also lost their lives in the same tragic accident. Bill, a graphic designer who worked with Chick-fil-A and later ran the family construction business, and Stephanie, a talented cook and gardener, were known for their selfless compassion and strong faith. They are survived by their son, Drew, and numerous family members.
The memorial service for Deborah and her children will be held at a later date, as the community mourns the loss of this remarkable family.
