In a recent government meeting, the Little Rock City Board approved several key ordinances aimed at enhancing public safety and urban development.

The board authorized the city manager to enter into sole source contracts for critical equipment for the Fire Department's Bomb Squad. The first contract, not to exceed $62,356.22, will fund the purchase of a Logos Stenos X-ray system, while a second contract for $49,058 will secure a Zeus bridal remote firing device. Both purchases are funded by the State Homeland Security Grant Program and were deemed impractical to bid due to their specialized nature.

Additionally, the board moved forward with the issuance of limited tax general obligation capital improvement bonds, which will pledge tax revenues to cover the principal and interest on the bonds. This financial maneuver is intended to support various city projects.

The meeting also included the acceptance of the Elopac annexation, which adds new lands to Little Rock and designates them for heavy industrial use. This annexation is part of the city's broader strategy to expand its industrial footprint.

Several planned zoning developments were approved, including residential projects titled LNA Enterprises, Honeysuckle Place Phase 2, and Lukowski, all aimed at enhancing housing options in the area.

The board's swift actions reflect a commitment to improving public safety infrastructure and facilitating urban growth, with all measures passing through multiple readings and receiving unanimous support.
