Bailey Faulkner, executive director of Ozark Mission Project, reported significant community impact during a recent government meeting, highlighting the organization’s efforts to assist families across all four wards. With funding received last year, the project completed 71 initiatives, including the construction of 14 wheelchair ramps, 17 porches, and 28 minor home repairs. However, Faulkner noted a pressing need for roof repairs, stating that they could only assist four families due to funding limitations, despite receiving numerous requests.

The discussion also touched on employee compensation within nonprofit organizations, with concerns raised about the disparity between nonprofit raises and those of government employees. Faulkner clarified that their hourly employees recently received a raise to $21 an hour, addressing the committee's inquiries about salary increases.

Following Faulkner, Lisonbee Courtney, co-executive director of Argenta Contemporary Theatre, presented an update on the theater's initiatives aimed at enhancing community engagement and boosting local tax revenue. Courtney detailed various successful programs, including a partnership with the joint for monthly cabaret events, a rebranding effort that increased audience engagement, and the establishment of the Vincent McAdams Argenta Contemporary Theatre Academy, which serves over 500 students.

Courtney emphasized the theater's role in fostering community pride and supporting local businesses, citing statistics that show a strong public belief in the arts' importance to local economies. She urged continued support from the government to expand their programs and maintain high-quality entertainment offerings.
