Officials noted that there are over 800 mental health housing units in Albany County, with RSS managing a considerable portion of these. While some programs attract participants from outside Albany County, officials clarified that this is not a predominant trend. They emphasized that Albany County houses a state psychiatric center that serves nine counties, often necessitating temporary supportive stays for patients before they return to their home counties.
