In a celebratory government meeting, local officials recognized the remarkable achievements of the Mustang girls' soccer team, who completed a perfect 22-0 season and secured the Tennessee Class AAA state championship. The team’s senior goalkeeper, Veil McNamee, was honored as the MVP of the state tournament, particularly noted for her outstanding performance during the penalty shootout in the final match.

The meeting also highlighted the recent announcement of the All Metro Girls Soccer Team for the 2024 season, as published by the Commercial Appeal. Ellet Smith was named Player of the Year, while David Wolf received Coach of the Year honors. The first team included standout players such as McClain Jones, Kate Wingfield, Hallie McBride, and Leila McNamee, with Zarena Markovic recognized on the second team.

Officials congratulated the athletes, many of whom are expected to continue their soccer careers at the collegiate level.
