During a recent city council meeting, key community initiatives and events were highlighted, emphasizing local engagement and support for those in need. The meeting commenced with a formal roll call and the Pledge of Allegiance, led by a local lacrosse coach, fostering a sense of community spirit.

Mayor McTernan announced the ongoing Toys for Tots Holiday Toy Drive, organized by the Summit Police Men's Benevolent Association and the Summit Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association. Residents are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys at designated locations, including City Hall and the firehouse, until December 10th.

Additionally, the mayor invited the public to the grand opening of the new firehouse on November 24th, which will feature a closing ceremony at the current headquarters followed by a parade to the new location. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the new facility and participate in traditional firehouse ceremonies.

On the same day, the 17th Annual Frozen Turkey Drive will take place outside the Summit Diner, where community members can donate frozen turkeys, non-perishable food items, or monetary contributions to benefit the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
