During a recent government meeting, Katie Hutchinson, the animal placement manager at Pima Animal Care Center (PAC), highlighted the urgent need for pet adoptions amid a record-high animal census. Hutchinson introduced two puppies, part of a larger group of eight, and emphasized the center's ongoing challenges, including the recent intake of over 300 chickens and roosters through a collaboration with the sheriff's department.
Despite these difficulties, Hutchinson expressed gratitude for the community's support, noting a successful \"snip and tip\" event that altered 596 community cats, aimed at easing the upcoming kitten season. This initiative involved over 100 local veterinary professionals and volunteers, showcasing the community's commitment to animal welfare.
To further engage the public and promote adoptions, PAC is hosting a Fall Fest event on Sunday, November 17th. The event will feature food trucks, carnival games, and opportunities to meet adoptable pets, encouraging families to consider bringing home a new furry friend for the holidays. Hutchinson also invited the community to help name the puppies, underscoring the center's need for both homes and creative names for the animals in their care.
