During a recent government meeting, officials discussed the financial aspects of the Irwin Park Boardwalk project, highlighting the contracts awarded to various engineering and consulting firms. The town has entered into a contract extension with Richter and Segan for $32,500, alongside a direct contract with CNC Engineering for $58,100 focused on structural engineering. Additionally, Down to Earth Consulting has been contracted for geotechnical services at a cost of $8,450. This brings the total expenditure for these services to $46,750.
The funding for these contracts is currently available within the Irwin Park Boardwalk budget. Officials noted that the initial budget allocated for the project was $175,000, established during a previous budget cycle. However, with projected construction costs now estimated between $500,000 and $600,000, there may be a need for additional funding. The town is considering the possibility of returning for more funds or determining if the Garden Club will cover the excess costs. The next step involves preparing bid documents to secure a firm estimate for the construction expenses.
