In a recent government meeting, Grayslake Haynesville Police Department recognized the heroic actions of several officers with life-saving awards for their quick and decisive responses in critical situations.

Chief Jeff Myra opened the meeting by congratulating the officers for their exemplary service. Officer Mahoney Munam was honored for his response to an accidental firearm discharge on September 8, 2024. Arriving before paramedics, Officer Munam assessed the victim's serious condition and applied a tourniquet, actions that likely saved the individual's life.

Additionally, Officers Semple, O'Campbell, and Richter received awards for their intervention during a suicide attempt on June 30, 2024. Upon responding to a well-being check, the officers forced entry into a locked home and found a victim in a life-threatening situation. They worked together to lift the victim and cut the rope, allowing the individual to breathe again before being transported to the hospital.

Chief Myra praised the officers, stating, \"The word hero is often applied inappropriately, but you gentlemen are heroes who save lives.\" The meeting concluded with a reminder of the importance of the officers' actions and the impact they have on the community.
