In a recent government meeting, officials presented plans for significant improvements to the high school kitchen, aiming to enhance functionality and safety. The project is set to go to bid, with a detailed agenda outlining the scope of work, procurement schedule, and construction timeline.

The proposed renovations will occur within the existing kitchen footprint and include the installation of slip-resistant epoxy flooring, moisture-resistant ceiling tiles, and new wall finishes featuring the school colors. To maintain cost efficiency, existing tiles will be covered with a durable paint finish known as SaniGlaze, which is designed to withstand wear and tear.

Additionally, the kitchen will receive new food service equipment, modern point-of-sale counters, and improved signage and lighting. A partial height wall will be added to enhance privacy in the kitchen area.

The project also includes an alternate bid option, allowing for flexibility in budgeting. This alternate plan features six options, including a 700-square-foot building addition, a dock extension with a handicap ramp, and expanded serving areas to accommodate increased student traffic. Other alternates involve refinishing kitchen tile walls, upgrading ceilings and lighting, and expanding the dishwashing area.

The proposed changes aim to improve the overall efficiency and aesthetics of the kitchen, ensuring it meets the needs of the school community while adhering to safety standards.
