Some community organizations are working to restore historical water systems that have been altered over the past century, emphasizing the importance of cultural practices in contemporary water management.

The meeting also highlighted the significance of aquifer health and alternative water sources, such as treated effluent for agricultural use and fire mitigation. The center has already assisted the Mauna Kea Watershed Alliance in securing funding for projects aimed at enhancing water recharge in aquifers. Additionally, it has supported Maui County's wastewater division in applying for grants to expand the reuse water distribution system.
