In a recent government meeting, officials discussed several ongoing projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing community infrastructure and engagement. A significant highlight was the grant received for the West Railroad Street project, which is set to undergo a detailed planning process. The design team has been actively collaborating with local high school students enrolled in an entrepreneurship class to develop the Garden of Eaton project, located near City Hall. This initiative aims to provide students with hands-on experience in project management, including obtaining necessary permits and conducting soil tests.
The meeting also addressed updates on the lead line survey, which has been made available on the city’s website, and letters have been distributed to residents. In terms of appointments, the mayor recommended the reappointment of two park board managers, Greg and Mikaela, as customary renewals.
Various departments reported on their recent activities. The electric department completed service connections for local businesses, including Dollar Tree and Tractor Supply, and assisted in setting up the community Christmas tree. The park and cemetery department is currently working on the Mirror Lake Pavilion, which will feature public restrooms to accommodate visitors, particularly benefiting pickleball players.
The water department has made significant progress, completing 50% of the flushing water system and hydrant maintenance, while the street department has been busy collecting leaves, having picked up 25 loads in the past two weeks. The wastewater department is also advancing with plans for a new force main and has been monitoring local lift stations.
As the community prepares for upcoming events, including a light-up night and the Joy Christmas celebration, officials emphasized their commitment to maintaining and improving city services and facilities.
