In a recent government meeting, the superintendent of Sarasota County Schools celebrated the overwhelming community support for the continuation of the millage referendum, which received an impressive 84% approval rating. This referendum was part of a broader statewide initiative, with nearly two dozen school districts seeking voter backing for educational funding. Sarasota County's measure stood out, achieving the highest approval rate among all similar ballot measures across Florida.

The superintendent expressed pride in the community's commitment to public education, noting that over 214,000 voters supported the measure out of more than 255,000 total votes cast. This marked a significant milestone, as it was the first time the referendum appeared on a general election ballot, amidst a crowded voting landscape.

Engagement with the community was a key focus throughout the campaign. The district implemented a robust outreach strategy, including a dedicated website that garnered over 386,000 impressions, and hosted more than 20 community events to inform residents about the referendum's purpose and benefits.
