In a recent government meeting, the remarkable achievements of Isabelle Lambad, founder of the nonprofit organization Share My Meals, were highlighted. Since its inception in early 2020, the organization has made significant strides in addressing food insecurity in the Princeton community, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Initially launched as a food recovery program, Share My Meals quickly adapted to the challenges posed by the pandemic. Utilizing New Jersey's Sustain and Serve program, Lambad and her team of dedicated volunteers provided over 140,000 meals to families and seniors in need by partnering with local restaurants. This initiative not only addressed food insecurity but also supported local businesses and their employees during a critical time.

As the community began to recover, Share My Meals returned to its original mission of recovering surplus meals from various sources, including corporate cafeterias, schools, and restaurants. In 2024 alone, the organization has already delivered 100,000 meals and is on track to reach 125,000 by year-end. Currently, they serve approximately 2,000 individuals weekly through 25 community partners, directly assisting 60 families and 20 seniors.

Lambad's leadership extends beyond local efforts; she co-founded the Statewide Meal Recovery Coalition, which aims to recover 500,000 meals annually by 2026. This coalition unites various service groups across New Jersey to tackle food insecurity and the environmental impact of food waste.

The meeting concluded with a recognition of Lambad's vision and the tireless work of her team, underscoring the significant impact Share My Meals has had on the community and its ambitious goals for the future.
