The village of Orland Park held a heartfelt Medal of Honor presentation, honoring the sacrifices of veterans and celebrating their contributions to the nation. The event, organized by the Orland Park Veterans Commission, was warmly welcomed by the program coordinator, who expressed gratitude to Mayor Keith Picow, the village trustees, and the National Medal of Honor Museum for their support in bringing the exhibit to the community.
The ceremony commenced with a color guard presentation by the Veterans Voices, followed by a stirring rendition of the national anthem performed by the Carl Sandburg High School choir. Mayor Picow, a U.S. Air Force veteran, addressed the attendees, acknowledging the absence of Alan Lynch due to illness but assuring that a video message from Lynch would be shared during the event.
The gathering also featured a tour of the Valor Express and the traveling Bridal of Honor Museum, providing attendees with an opportunity to engage with the rich history of military valor. The event underscored the village's commitment to honoring its veterans and fostering a sense of community around their legacy.
