In a recent government meeting, the City of West Palm Beach addressed multiple code violations affecting local properties, emphasizing the need for compliance and public safety.
The first case discussed involved a residential unit at 100, 136th Street, where code officer Weebly reported significant violations, including the installation of a water heater without a permit, broken windows, and the presence of mold throughout the unit. The city has mandated that the property owner rectify these issues within 60 days or face fines of $250 per day. The property manager requested an extension, which was granted by the magistrate.
Another case centered on a business at 1909 North Tamarind Avenue, cited for selling tobacco products without the necessary licensing. Officer Levine noted that despite previous communications, the business owner had not complied with the requirements after two months. The city has given the owner 10 days to correct the licensing issue or incur a one-time fine of $250.
Additionally, the same property was cited for various other violations, including unsanitary conditions and lack of a rental license. The city requested 30 days for compliance on these issues, with a potential fine of $200 per day thereafter.
These discussions highlight the city's ongoing efforts to enforce code compliance and ensure the safety and well-being of its residents and businesses. The magistrate's rulings reflect a commitment to addressing violations promptly while allowing property owners a reasonable timeframe to achieve compliance.
