During a recent government meeting, representatives from the Attleboro Interact Club showcased their commitment to community service and leadership development through a presentation at a Rotary Club meeting. Students Louisa Harry, Jeremy, Gabriela Pereira, Maya, Liam Trin, and Marley Sekaju impressed Rotary members with their insights and experiences related to the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA). The Interact Club plans to host a luncheon in the spring to further discuss their collaborative efforts with the Rotary Club.
The meeting also highlighted the unveiling of a new mural representing the \"Portrait of a Graduate\" initiative, which emphasizes the importance of communication, collaboration, innovation, and balance in preparing students for future challenges. Assistant Superintendent Lori Regan explained that the mural, designed by high school student Carissa DeCosta and painted by her peers, symbolizes the evolving nature of education and community involvement. The mural will feature leaves created by middle school students, showcasing their artistic talents and reinforcing the idea that no two students—or leaves—are the same.
The carpentry department contributed to the project by constructing a custom frame for the mural, further integrating hands-on learning into the students' educational experience. The meeting concluded with recognition of the students involved in the mural project, emphasizing the district's commitment to arts education and community engagement. The administration expressed pride in Attleboro's leadership in educational initiatives, particularly in fostering a collaborative environment across various departments.
