During a recent board meeting, County Manager Stevenson outlined the key components of this plan, which includes a revised mission statement, core values, and a vision statement designed to guide the county's future.

The newly crafted mission statement emphasizes integrity, accountability, and transparency, stating that the Effingham County Board of Commissioners aims to provide exceptional public services that promote safety, health, and a high quality of life for its constituents. This revision reflects a more precise understanding of the board's purpose and commitment to the community.

The strategic plan also introduces five core values: honesty and integrity, openness and transparency, efficiency and accountability, friendliness and customer centricity, and creativity and innovation. These values will serve as guiding principles for the county's operations and decision-making processes.

A vision statement was developed to articulate the county's aspirations over the next three to five years, describing Effingham County as a \"prosperous county that cultivates balanced growth while preserving its culture, character, and history.\" This statement highlights the board's commitment to managing growth responsibly while honoring the county's heritage.

To implement this strategic plan, the county will utilize a balanced scorecard approach, focusing on customer satisfaction, process improvement, employee training, and resource management. The board identified four strategic themes: balanced growth, infrastructure maintenance, effective service delivery, and enhanced communication with constituents.

In addition to the strategic plan, the board recognized November 10, 2024, as Retired Educators Day in Effingham County, honoring the contributions of retired educators to the community.
