During a recent government meeting, officials discussed two significant resolutions aimed at enhancing local infrastructure and securing funding for future projects.
The first resolution, numbered 2025-01, involves the Culligan Commission's application for the Fiscal Year 2025 Bridge Investment Program, which is part of the VIP funds. Although officials acknowledged that securing this grant is a long shot, they emphasized the importance of initiating discussions with the Department of Transportation to keep the project on their radar. This proactive approach aims to foster ongoing communication with federal representatives, building on previous meetings held in Washington, D.C.
The second resolution, 2025-02, pertains to the awarding of a bid for taxiway improvements at the local airport. This project is supported by a grant from the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), which was applied for two years ago. The current phase of the grant will fund asphalt rehabilitation and seal coating, totaling $201,394. The grant covers 75% of the costs, requiring a 25% match of $50,348, which will be equally split between the county and the city, each contributing $25,174.
Both resolutions were met with unanimous support from the commissioners, reflecting a collaborative effort to enhance local infrastructure and secure necessary funding for future developments.
