The Keene High School community celebrated a series of remarkable athletic achievements during a recent government meeting, highlighting the accomplishments of various sports teams and their coaches.
The Unified soccer team made a commendable run to the state championship, ultimately finishing just one goal short of victory. Their season was marked by exemplary sportsmanship, earning them respect and pride from the community. Coach Dan Gruber and the 2024 Unified Soccer Team were congratulated for their efforts.
In Junior Varsity bass fishing, Tanner Thompson and Dan Smith clinched the state championship, with accolades also directed towards their coach, Sean Graves.
Cross country standout Sullivan \"Sully\" Sturtz continued to impress, winning the New Hampshire Division 1 championship and securing a runner-up position in the New Hampshire Meet of Champions, followed by a fourth-place finish in the New England championships.
The highlight of the meeting was the recognition of the girls' field hockey team, which achieved a historic milestone by winning the first-ever state championship for Keene High School. The team, under the guidance of Coach Michelle Tiani, finished the season with an impressive record of 18 wins and 1 loss. The resolution read during the meeting detailed the contributions of key players, including McKenna Nelson, Lola Bolero, and Sophia Miller, who ended her high school career as the all-time leading point scorer for the school.
