Parents and students from Magruder High School voiced urgent concerns regarding safety and facility conditions during a recent school board meeting. The discussions highlighted the pressing need for renovations and improvements to ensure a secure environment for students.

One parent emphasized the importance of a school that prioritizes student safety, urging board members to leverage their positions to fulfill promises made regarding renovations. The parent expressed frustration over perceived delays and setbacks, which they believe jeopardize the safety of students at Magruder.

Mamadi Bangora, a junior and member of the Student Government Association, echoed these sentiments, specifically addressing the poor condition of the school's stadium field. He described the field as unsafe for athletes, citing visible ditches and muddy conditions that pose a risk of injury. Bangora shared personal experiences, including a torn ACL, and called for immediate renovations to replace the Bermuda grass field with a turf surface to enhance safety for all student athletes.

Rosemary Perler, vice president of the student government at Field Road Elementary School, also spoke about the importance of maintaining a safe and positive school environment, particularly in often-overlooked areas like restrooms and cafeterias.
