During a recent government meeting, officials addressed critical water quality issues affecting local wells. While the majority of water samples returned positive results, two wells tested positive for E. Coli, prompting immediate action.
Officials emphasized the importance of public safety, stating that a public notice will be issued to inform customers of the contamination. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has mandated that the affected wells be brought back into compliance before they can be reintroduced into service. Although the wells do not need to be taken out of service, officials opted to do so until further testing can confirm safety.
In response to the contamination, the wells have undergone disinfection procedures. It was clarified that the water extracted from these wells is not treated before reaching the treatment plant, which means it cannot be served to customers until it meets safety standards.
Officials urged residents to stay informed and register for updates regarding the water quality situation, highlighting the importance of community awareness in ensuring public health.
