During a recent government meeting, officials reflected on the significance of Veterans Day, which took place on November 11th. The meeting highlighted a ceremony held at Tookes Memorial High School, organized by social studies teacher Brian Aylward. The event honored local veterans, with participation from the school administration, staff, and students. The high school concert band performed moving songs, and students delivered speeches, including a heartfelt address from a local veteran sharing his experiences of service.

Aylward was commended for his efforts in organizing the annual ceremony, which fosters community connections and appreciation for veterans. The meeting also noted that students from the Doing Heathbrook Center Elementary School and Ryan Schools created approximately 1,700 thank-you cards for veterans at the Edith North North Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, showcasing the commitment of the Tewksbury Public School community to honor those who have served.

In addition to the Veterans Day discussions, the meeting addressed upcoming winter weather preparations. Officials reminded attendees to review inclement weather notices included in the consent agenda, emphasizing the importance of staying informed as temperatures drop. Furthermore, information regarding 8th-grade student communications was shared, including an annual letter and the Tewksbury Memorial High School profile, which will be included in the next district newsletter.
