In a recent update from Sudan, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has raised alarms over the escalating armed violence in Al Jazeera state, which has put tens of thousands of lives at risk. The International Organization for Migration reported that over 343,000 individuals have been displaced in less than a month due to ongoing clashes and insecurity. Many of those fleeing have sought refuge in neighboring states, including Gadarev and Quesala, where humanitarian efforts are underway to assist affected communities.

Assessments conducted by OCHA revealed that many displaced individuals arrived with only the clothes on their backs, facing dire conditions as they shelter in the open. Urgent needs include tents, plastic sheets, heaters, mattresses, medicines, food, and milk for young children. Additionally, there has been a concerning rise in cholera cases at treatment centers in Gidara following the latest wave of displacement.

In North Darfur, the Sudanese government's decision to keep the Adre crossing open has facilitated the delivery of humanitarian aid. The World Food Programme (WFP) announced that three convoys carrying essential food and nutrition assistance are en route to the Zamzam displacement camp and Kaduli in South Kordofan. The aid is expected to reach nearly 50,000 people, including malnourished children. WFP emphasized the importance of safe passage for these convoys to areas that have been largely cut off from assistance since the conflict began.

In Abiye, UN peacekeepers condemned recent killings that resulted in five deaths, including a member of the Community Protection Committee. The UN mission has intensified security measures and called for a swift investigation into the attack.

Meanwhile, as Senegal prepares for legislative elections, the head of the UN office for West Africa urged all national actors to maintain a peaceful environment and called on political leaders to avoid inciting violence or using hate speech.

In Ukraine, the humanitarian coordinator reported that since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion nearly 1,000 days ago, 12,000 civilians have been killed, and 40% of the population now requires humanitarian assistance.
