During a recent government meeting, a grandfather passionately addressed concerns regarding the treatment of his grandson, Andrew Johnson, a child with special needs. He emphasized that Andrew should not be labeled as handicapped, but rather recognized for his unique abilities. The grandfather detailed a troubling series of incidents at Andrew's elementary school, spanning from August 19 to September 19.
He reported receiving multiple calls from the school regarding Andrew's behavior, indicating a pattern of distress. On September 4, he received five calls, and on that day, Andrew had to be picked up due to overstimulation. The situation escalated on September 6, when staff members allegedly restrained Andrew improperly, failing to use the prescribed Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) techniques.
The grandfather also highlighted that, following these incidents, his family noticed a bruise on Andrew's knee, which he sustained while being held down and calling for help. He urged the meeting attendees to take action against the school staff for their negligence and to ensure that such treatment of children with special needs is addressed and prevented in the future.
