In a special meeting held to canvas the results of the recent elections, Forest Falls officials confirmed a strong voter turnout of 87.3%, with nearly 7,600 out of approximately 8,700 eligible voters participating. Election official Lynn Olsen highlighted the successful execution of four elections this year, including a special election for the school district, and expressed gratitude to over 100 volunteers who served as election judges.
The meeting revealed that absentee voting accounted for about 3,000 of the total votes cast. Notably, election day registrations surged, with one precinct reporting 106 new registrations. The council officially recognized the election results, which included the re-election of Mayor Anthony Hicks and the election of council members Jim Fish, Mark Layton, Mike Mortensen, and Laurel Kildee, all securing four-year terms.
Following the election results, the council moved on to discuss the audit engagement letter, led by Finance Director Bill Somor, indicating a focus on financial oversight in the upcoming agenda.
