During a recent government meeting, heartfelt tributes were paid to the late Arlene Kastner, mother of local football coach Brian Kastner. The community's support for Coach Kastner and the football program was highlighted, reflecting the strong bonds within the Mason community. The football team concluded a challenging season, earning pride and respect from local residents.
The meeting also celebrated the achievements of the Mason cross country team and the retirement of Coach Tom Rapp, who was recognized as a legendary figure in both the local and broader cross country communities. His mentorship has positively impacted countless young athletes, and the team honored him with a championship farewell.
Additionally, the meeting acknowledged the successes of the soccer teams. Annalise Knight, a standout goalkeeper and four-year starter, received first-team All-Ohio honors, a significant achievement in high school soccer. On the boys' side, Garrett Sabo, a Comet alumnus, was named Coach of the Year for both the Greater Miami Conference and the city of Cincinnati after leading his team to an undefeated record in his debut season. Marcos Neto was also recognized as the Cincinnati Boys Player of the Year, underscoring the strong performance of Mason's fall sports teams.
