In a recent government meeting, local officials celebrated the achievements of various school sports teams and extracurricular activities, highlighting the community's vibrant youth culture.

The John Jay and Roycey Ketchum football teams concluded their regular seasons with notable victories. John Jay triumphed over Maranek with a score of 28 to 7 and is set to compete against Mount Vernon in the postseason on November 7 at 4:30 PM. Meanwhile, Ketchum edged out Mount Vernon with a narrow 7 to 6 win and will enter the sectional playoffs this Friday at North Rockland.

The meeting also recognized Ketchum High School's successful homecoming weekend, which featured a football game, Hall of Fame inductions, a bonfire attended by various student organizations, and a dance event.

In cross country, both schools showcased strong performances at the Section 1 Northern County race. Ketchum's Matt Kowalczyk, Isaac Menjivar, and George Soika finished in the top 20 for the boys, while Abby Kwalczuk from Ketchum won the girls' race, finishing over a minute ahead of her nearest competitor. Other notable finishes included John Jay's Elizabeth Del Rosso and Paige Sullivan.

Additionally, the RCK women's swim team was commended for their performance in the sectional meet, and the RCK Orchestra received praise for their recent concert, which included performances across secondary schools.

The meeting underscored the importance of community support for local schools and the pride taken in student accomplishments across various disciplines.
