Nora Degby and Maggie Nova, the president and vice president of the Papillion Vista High School student council, presented an enthusiastic report on the school's athletic achievements during a recent government meeting.
The highlight of their presentation was the football team's remarkable success, having reached the playoffs and won their first-round game for the first time in over a decade. The softball team continued its impressive legacy, advancing to the semifinals and marking an incredible 32 consecutive years of state appearances.
In cross country, two female athletes set new school records at the state tournament in Lincoln, contributing to the team's overall fourth-place finish. The golf team also showcased talent, with two girls qualifying for the state competition, including standout Audra Demery, who had a stellar season.
Additionally, Avery Wolf was recognized as the Believers and Achievers state winner, celebrated for her character, academic excellence, and athletic prowess. The presentation concluded with the announcement of Gina Mancuso, a former student and Cornhusker, being inducted into the NSA Hall of Fame this fall, further highlighting the school's commitment to fostering excellence in both academics and athletics.
