The Midland City Council and the Midland Development Corporation (MDC) convened a meeting to discuss the downtown master plan, featuring a presentation from Park Hill Smith and Cooper Incorporated. The meeting, which barely met quorum requirements, was called to order by council members including Norman, Duffer, and Davidson, alongside MDC representatives.
Michael Howard, the director of planning at Park Hill, introduced the presentation, highlighting the collaborative efforts that began in January. He emphasized the importance of community engagement, noting that an advisory committee comprised of business and community leaders, MDC staff, and city officials contributed to shaping the vision for downtown Midland.
Julio Carrillo, the project manager for the study, was invited to present the key outcomes of the planning process. The council expressed eagerness to discuss the findings and finalize the downtown master plan, which aims to enhance the area’s development and community engagement.
The meeting underscored the city's commitment to revitalizing downtown Midland through strategic planning and collaboration with local stakeholders. Further discussions and questions from council members are anticipated as the project moves forward.
