Henderson County FFA has achieved national recognition as a three-star chapter, the highest honor awarded by the National FFA Organization. This prestigious accolade will be celebrated on stage at the upcoming 97th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, where the chapter will stand out among 9,235 others nationwide. Only about 4% of these chapters receive such a distinction, placing Henderson County FFA among the top 10 out of over 120 chapters in Kentucky.
This marks the fourth time Henderson County High School FFA has received this award since its chartering in 1952. The recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of the students and faculty involved in the program. New agriculture teacher, Ms. Vandiver, and returning educator, Mr. Payne, have played significant roles in guiding the students through the rigorous application process, which is entirely student-led.
The application process involves a comprehensive evaluation of the chapter's activities, including participation in speaking contests, proficiency applications, and community service events. Students meticulously document their efforts, culminating in a lengthy application that showcases their achievements. The chapter's success is a testament to the leadership and commitment of its members, who have invested countless hours into their initiatives.
Students like Anna Claire Tisher and Abby Howe shared their experiences, highlighting the collaborative effort required to complete the extensive application. Tisher, who served as sentinel, emphasized the value of the hard work put into the process, while Howe, now the Strengthening Agriculture Committee Chair, expressed pride in leading her peers and continuing the chapter's legacy of excellence.
