In a recent government meeting, the achievements of local student-athletes were celebrated, highlighting the exceptional performances of October's Athletes of the Month. Athletic Director Mr. Karolczak announced the recipients, recognizing their contributions both on and off the field.
Riley Domonowski, a standout from the girls' volleyball program, was named the female athlete of the month. Over her three years in the program, she has consistently excelled, leading in aces and kills during October. Domonowski, a team captain, maintains an impressive GPA of over 4.0 and ranks in the top 5% of her class. Her leadership extends beyond athletics; she is actively involved in the student athlete leadership team and was recently honored with the NLCC Sportsmanship Award for volleyball.
The male athlete of the month accolade went to Georgie Morales from the boys' soccer team, marking his third consecutive recognition for October. Coach Hugo Telles praised Morales for his outstanding performance, noting he scored 12 goals in just eight games during the month, significantly contributing to the team's efforts in their conference. Telles emphasized Morales's leadership qualities, describing him as a motivating presence on the field, akin to having an additional coach.
Both athletes exemplify dedication and leadership, making significant impacts in their respective sports and school communities. Their achievements reflect the commitment of the Round Lake athletic programs to foster talent and character among student-athletes.
