The discussion began with the transition from a contract with the city of Dallas to launching free programming in 2020, which was notably impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, transforming Fair Park into a humanitarian super site.

In 2021, the Dallas City Council unanimously approved a master plan for Fair Park, which has since guided various projects and initiatives. A capital campaign was initiated in 2022, leading to the establishment of a cultural district recognized by the Texas Arts and Culture Department. A major highlight from this period was securing a $5 million naming gift from the Reece Jones Foundation for the community park.

The meeting also addressed ongoing construction projects, including the highly anticipated Cotton Bowl Stadium, which is currently on pause for the Texas State Fair. Other completed projects include the tower building, funded through a collaboration of bond funds, private donations, and restoration grants.

Officials reported that fundraising efforts have yielded nearly $400 million in total for Fair Park, encompassing cash, pledges, grants, and bond money. This funding will support various initiatives, including the development of the Fair Park Loop Trail and the Magnolia Lounge, as well as enhancements to Corona Plaza.
