During a recent government meeting, local residents voiced concerns regarding the housing market and traffic safety in Madison County. Dana Lott, a licensed real estate agent, presented statistics indicating that as of September 11, 2024, there are 485 homes for sale in the county. Notably, 96 of these homes are located off Yandell Road, representing nearly one-fourth of the total listings. Lott emphasized that this figure does not account for homes sold by owners or those under construction, including a new subdivision approved for development by Doctor Horton across from Yandell Road.
Lott provided each supervisor with a detailed listing of homes for sale on Yandell Road, which was officially entered into the meeting minutes following a motion and vote.
Following Lott's presentation, Tiffany Grant, a long-time resident of Canton, raised concerns about increasing traffic in the area. She highlighted the potential dangers posed by additional vehicles on local roads, particularly on Country Lane and Clarkdale Road. Grant described her experiences navigating the junction of Quail Hollow and Clarkdale Road, noting that while traveling south is relatively safe, turning left poses significant risks due to visibility issues caused by overgrown grass and trees.
The discussions underscored the community's growing concerns about housing developments and their impact on local infrastructure and safety.
