In a recent government meeting, key discussions highlighted the collaborative efforts within the educational community and celebrated student achievements.
A significant focus was placed on the formation of the High School Knights Navigator Club, spearheaded by third-grade teacher Jody McKay. This initiative aims to foster mentorship and volunteerism among high school juniors and seniors, encouraging them to adopt elementary classrooms. Students will have opportunities to engage in various activities, including reading sessions, tutoring, and field trips, promoting empathy and leadership across campuses.
Additionally, the meeting recognized the accomplishments of two students from Lake Norman Charter, Avian Cannon and Charlie Weaver, who received prestigious awards in the National Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. Avian, a gold and silver medalist, has earned renewable scholarship funds for her studies at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Charlie, who also won a gold medal, showcased a large artwork celebrating influential women in her life, including two of her teachers.
The meeting underscored the importance of community involvement in education and the remarkable talents of students, setting a positive tone as the new school year begins.
