During a recent city council meeting, community concerns were raised regarding ongoing issues on Ninth Street, particularly related to noise and sanitation problems caused by local businesses. Resident Eric Calderon addressed the council, highlighting persistent issues with mattresses being left outside, which he claims have not been properly addressed despite police intervention.
Calderon reported that despite assurances from workers at the site that the mattresses would be removed, they remain in place, contributing to an unsightly and unsanitary environment. He also noted that the presence of box trucks, which frequently occupy parking spaces, exacerbates the parking shortage in the area.
The resident expressed frustration over the noise generated by these trucks, which begin operations as early as 7 a.m. every day, including weekends. He described the disruptive sounds of truck gates and beeping alarms, along with loud music and conversations, often filled with profanity, that disturb the neighborhood's peace.
The council's response to these concerns remains to be seen, but the issues raised by Calderon reflect broader challenges faced by residents in maintaining a livable community amidst commercial activities.
