Battalion Chief Brian Schimlach highlighted the team's exceptional performance, which involved a complex medical procedure known as a cricothyrotomy, necessary due to the patient's severe traumatic injuries that compromised her airway.

Upon arrival at the scene, the team quickly assessed the situation and executed a coordinated response, demonstrating the importance of teamwork and clear communication in high-pressure environments. The procedure, which involves making an incision in the neck to secure an airway, was performed by paramedic Rick, with the entire crew ensuring the patient's vital signs were monitored throughout the process.

The patient, Angela, was present at the ceremony and expressed gratitude for the care she received, emphasizing the strong bond formed between her and the emergency responders. The commendation recognized not only the technical skills and training of the team but also their commitment to patient care.
